I grew up in Hermosillo, México, and studied architecture there. After graduating in 2001, I spent several years working for firms in México DF, Escondido California, and Bogotá Colombia — designing everything from custom homes to apartment buildings.

At some point I realized what I enjoyed most wasn't the buildings themselves, but the spaces around them. The way a well-designed outdoor space can change how you feel at home. That's what pulled me toward landscape design.

In 2020, I completed a specialization in Landscape Architecture at Universidad Anáhuac in México City — and in 2021 I moved with my family to Austin to focus fully on what I love most.

Welcome to Dessens Landscape Design. I'm Diego Dessens, and I've been designing outdoor spaces in the Austin area since 2021.

I started this firm because I genuinely enjoy this work. Every project is different — a backyard that needs a fresh start, a front yard that should make a statement, or a property that just hasn't reached its full potential yet. That's the part I find interesting.

When you work with me, you work with me directly. From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, I'm involved in every step. I'll listen to what you're looking for, ask the right questions, and come up with a design that fits your space, your lifestyle, and your budget.

I don't believe good design has to be complicated. It just needs to be right for you.
